I have read almost every book Anne has written, and though they don't really contain poetry, some of her paragraphs are almost poetic in their descriptiveness and beauty.
I am going to post some that I have written in my old poetry book.
"She tried to feel hate, to grow rigid with it, to resist the compassionate expression on his face, his large, glistening eyes, so very beautiful as only eyes can be, and filled with sorrow as he looked at her. His beard and mustache were now very black and thick and like those of saints in pictures. His forehead was exquisitely shaped where the hair grew back from it, parted in the center with the smallest widow's peak. Yes, a beautiful being, undeniably beautiful." - "Lasher"
"And I suppose I do believe, in the final analysis, that a peace of mind can be obtained in the face of the worst horrors and the worst losses. It can obtained by faith in change and in will and in accident; and by faith in ourselves, that we will do the right thing, more often than not, in the face of adversity." - Michael Curry, "Taltos"
"It was the horror of this world that a thousand evils were visited on those who were blameless and no one would ever punish, and side by side with the greatest promise was nothing but misery and want. Children mutilated to make a choir or seraphim, their song a cry to heaven that heaven did not hear. " - "Cry to Heaven"
"And then her face losts its seriousness; the smoky eyebrows caught in their frown, became long and like strokes of the pencil above her radiant eyes. And the tears rose, blurring and magnifying the blue colour and holding it as if afraid to flow." - "Cry to Heaven"
"Her face was stained with tears, tears that were tinted with blood. Her eyes brimmed with them, and the faint touch of red stained her tiny hand." - Interview with the Vampire"
