Hey guys, I just finished reading a very cool vampire book. It's called 'Deep Midnight' and it was written by Shannon Drake. It's a very good book, but it's not really evidentally vampiric until you get 3/4 of the way through it.
The story follows the main character, Jordan Riley, who is a book critic from South Carolina, who is visiting her cousin Jared and his wife Cindy in Venice, Italy for Carnevale (AKA Mardi Gras). Jordan is still grieving over the loss of her fiance Steven, a cop who died while tracking cultists. Jordan goes to a masquerade ball where she thinks she witnesses a murder but cannot identify the killer because of the costumes, and she happens upon a man who saves her who is dressed as a wolf. Throughout the book, she tries to convince the 'polizia' that she isn't insane and that she did in fact see a crime being committed.
Jordan starts to notice that the people she knows are acting strangely, some even disappearing and dying, and whenever she goes out she is being tracked by a man in a strange dottore (doctor) costume. She also begins to see a full grown black wolf following her around the streets of Venice.
I can't really say too much more or you will know all of what happens =)
I recommend it. It's very well written and it's interesting and hard to put down.
I have included the amazon.com info for it, but I suggest you don't read the summary of the storyline as it does give most of the main plot away.
