Hmm I just had an epiphany:
I think some people like vamps because they have what most people don't: Immortality, the incapability of getting sick, the ability to get anything they want in the wink of an eye, beauty, mystery, spontenaity.
I mean, take me for example: I will die, although I would prefer not to think about it. I have a chronic sickness which causes me pain on a daily basis and I am always up half the night with pains. Most people have to work their proverbial asses off to get anywhere in life; some work their asses off just to get by. Vamps can have all the money they want, just by slaying the right victims.
I am not spontaneous, mysterious or beautiful =P

i have been interested in vampyres since i could read which seems like only yesterday but i love vampires because there everything a normal human can't have and i belive if a normal human can have just a glimps of what a real vampire has they would have seen that it is a gift and a curse because if you live forever you have to see your loved ones die and thats sad but they wil be replased by new oes and if you change them they start to grow distant from you and you lose them that way but the hole idea of vampires is a romantic idea and vampires are eternal lovers soe while others are just cruel normal human and vampires are romantic an i like romance

i think i like the thought of being able to learn so much...and to have infinit time to travel the world and learn of all cultures...to see how the world would progress. And of course, the sentuality about vampires, the blood lust. the intimate way in which you would get to know humans, in taking thier life force, to feel their heart beating and slowing to a crawl...
well thats my input...

The main reason I'm so drawn to vampires is mostly due to the longevity of their legends. Vampire "myths" and "legends" have been around for THOUSANDS of years which kinda gives them a sense of being "real". I'm also drawn to the immortality aspect of them... even though it does come at a price. But being able to live forever... just think of the endless amounts of knowledge you'd accumulate throughout the ages. You'd essentially know EVERYTHING there is to know about man and how he has progressed throughout the centuries. I would love to have been alive at the peak of the Egyptian society, as well as at the peak of the Roman society.
The vampire of today's world has been turned into a romantic figure, and I think a lot of the attraction that people have towards vampires is in part due to the sexuality and the sensual aspect of the vampire. It's a sense of foreboding that draws you to the vampire (they're like the guy you'd be horrified to bring home to mother, yet you can't help but be deeply attracted to them). They're dangerous, yet that makes the attraction so much more intense.
They're a wonderful creature and I can't help but wonder why anyone WOULDN'T be attracted to them.

i don't know where my interest in vampires came from, just that it's been there for as long as I can remember. Watching Hammer films as a kid and reading horror stories must be in it somewhere, but I've not developed into a Frankenstein or Zombie obsessive so I really couldn't explain it.
These days, the main interest for me is in researching alleged cases of "real" vampire cases in the UK and Ireland from the Middle Ages onwards. There's a small but dedicated group of us have now come together on that one. It's been a wonderful learning curve, sorting the maybe's from the blatant hoaxes - plenty of fun, too.
So it's research. And Hammer Films. And books. I'm not into the role-playing aspect myself, and I've a downer on self-styled "vampire hunters" but ...
room for us all, yeah?

Why? Well, I read the NightWorld books. They are some good books. They are all about vampires who want to find tehir sould mates. But there are some things in NightWorld which don't happen in some and do happen in others. 1. Once bitten, a vampire becomes immue to the sun. 2. Once bitten, a vampires looks perfecterise [sp?] meaning the smallest cut or hair can become perfect. 3. Once bitten, a vampire will have memories of their makers lives. 4. Once bitten, a vampire will be able to see its reflection, go days without blood and control their hunger. [glow=red,2,300]And finally....[/glow] 5. Once bitten, a vampire searches for its soul mate through dreams and links.
